LONG, MATT

Graduated from Notre Dame High School East Stroudsburg. Studied Political Science and Philosophy at Washington & Jefferson College.

Matt Long was born and raised in Pennsylvania, spending his formative years in Central PA before moving to East Stroudsburg, PA in 5th grade. He spent the next 8 years in the Notre Dame East Stroudsburg schooling system, graduating in 2011 as Senior Class President and Captain of his Basketball and Golf Teams. He then studied Political Science and Philosophy at Washington & Jefferson College where he played on the college golf team, participating in an NCAA Championship. He chose to follow his dream of being a professional golfer, where he spent time working at country clubs in New York and Maryland. In 2023, he moved back to East Stroudsburg, taking a job as Senior Assistant Golf Professional at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, PA. Throughout his life Matt has been involved in multiple political campaigns. He has worked for candidates of both parties, being more Democratic when younger, but identifying more with the Republican party in the last decade. He grew up with two large families, one side mostly Republican and one side mostly Democratic. Because of this, Matt is interested in bringing people together and listening to anyone he disagrees with. The degrading state of political discourse in America today is one of the main reasons he now seeks public office. At the end of the day, Matt cares about what's best for Pennsylvanians. He will prioritize their needs over party politics and will work with representatives in both parties to get things done for his constituents. Matt believes the U.S. Constitution and the Pennsylvania Constitution are the greatest guarantors of freedom we have in this Commonwealth. He will steadfastly defend the rights enshrined in both documents as he fights for you in Harrisburg.

I am running for office to bring people together and get things done. We need to finally lower our property tax burden, which is the highest in the state. We need to reduce the record inflation which has led to price hikes for basic necessities. We need to secure a minimum wage hike, as Pennsylvania's is still $7.25 an hour. We need to address the homelessness crisis and incentivize affordable housing for our citizens. My opponent, unfortunately, has a reputation for being partisan and divisive. I respect her willingness to go into public service, but her record of ineffectiveness speaks for itself. If people are happy with their current situation then vote for Representative Madden. But if you want someone who will be an independent representative for your interests who will put people over politics, join me in bringing change to the 115th district.
